Inpatient Treatment
Our inpatient eating disorder program helps clients feel safe sharing difficult emotions and experiences. Being in a comfortable environment among peers who face similar struggles fosters community, personal growth, and connections in recovery.
In a treatment setting that feels comfortable and safe, clients can be open and vulnerable, and can focus on treatment rather than distractions.
Meal Support
We understand that meals can be anxiety-provoking for those with eating disorders. Our treatment team helps clients plate their meals and process emotions and triggers that may arise around food and eating.
With support and guidance before, during, and after meals, clients can begin reducing stress around eating, and develop a healthier relationship with food.
Holistic Therapies
Eating disorders affect the body, mind, and spirit. All three need to be addressed for lasting recovery. Our holistic approaches help heal physical, mental, and spiritual wounds and include mindfulness practices, spiritual exploration, and experiential therapies like adventure therapy and art and music therapies.
Holistic therapies help clients begin to mend the disconnect between their physical and emotional selves by encouraging them to land in their bodies again. They also learn to manage triggers using healthy coping skills.
Trauma-Informed Care
Eating disorders can be a symptom of untreated trauma. We address trauma in a safe space using therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and neurofeedback.
Untreated trauma can perpetuate symptoms of bulimia, anorexia, and other disordered eating behaviors. Getting to the root causes of eating disorders helps clients heal from a deeper place, which can help prevent relapse.
Nutrition Counseling
Our treatment team includes a dietitian with over 20 years of experience treating eating disorders. Clients receive regular nutrition and meal planning education. They learn to view food as a way to nourish their bodies and minds instead of an enemy or coping mechanism.
Restoring healthy nutrition is an integral part of relapse prevention and long-term recovery from eating disorders.
Psychiatric Care
It’s common for eating disorders to be accompanied by other mental health disorders such as anxiety, a personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and depression and other mood disorders. Our psychiatric team treats the full range of co-occurring mental health issues that may fuel disordered eating.
Research shows treatment is more effective when underlying mental health issues are properly managed. Clients have access to an experienced psychiatrist and evidence-based medications, as needed.
Family Therapy
We integrate family into treatment through phone or in-person therapy. We also offer a full day of family programming that explores relationship issues and provides education on ways loved ones can support each other.
When loved ones are actively involved in the recovery process, the whole family can heal together and rebuild trust, learn healthier communication skills, and strengthen their relationships.
Shame-Resilience
People with eating disorders may experience shame around their bodies and eating behaviors. We offer a special shame-resilience curriculum based on the work of author and researcher Dr. Brené Brown. Clients address shame in a safe space and learn to live authentically and wholly.
Shame can reinforce destructive coping behaviors. By helping clients uncover and manage these challenges, they are less likely to cope with binging, purging, or restricting behaviors.
Personalized Treatment
We work with each client to tailor treatment to their unique issues and needs. Our small client population and range of traditional and alternative therapies allows us to offer highly individualized treatment plans.
Personalized treatment plans recognize each client as an individual, not a number. Individualized treatment allows clients to find the approaches that most resonate with them, providing a more powerful treatment experience.
